Back to school 2

Greetings Again Earthlings!

This is my second post today. I just remembered a challenge I had worked on for the Hambo Hoedown #29.  The theme was back to school with the colors of  red, blue & yellow. I used the free pencil digi I got from being in last week's challenge. I copied (& flipped) it a few times to give the feeling of a bunch of pencils... and one that stands out a bit.

The font I used for 'be yourself' is PENMANSHIP that I downloaded from a great site called Dafont.com. I can usually find anything I need there. I love them.

Back to real life..

Back to school

Greetings Earthlings-

YAY! We have survived another summer. There are a lot of back to school challenges out there. So many, I've lost track of where and when the deadlines are.. I am going to enter this card in the Mo's Digital Challenge this week.

The challenge was 'back to school'.I used a Mo Manning digital image, of course.  I didn't own any that screamed that theme so I tweaked the 'Paul Texting' image with the sentiment to make it more back to school-y.

I tried something a little different this time around. Instead of printing it in black, I used PSE to color the lines only before I used my Copics.  Here is what the print looked like before coloring.

I've seen lately that folks are trying the 'no line' technique where none of the outline shows. I don't especially care for that look but it did give me the idea to try this. I think it turned out pretty well. It's subtle. I used Prisma Colored Pencils for the skin areas. I was afraid I would loose the detail if I used my Copics.

I also made a fun birthday card but I have to wait until the birthday boy receives it in the mail before I post..

Blue pout

Greetings Earthlings-

I hope everyone is ok after the earthquake on the East coast. My thoughts are with you all.

I am entering this card in the Copic Creations challenge this week. They asked us to use the BlueGreen color group. I love this color group and find myself reaching for it often.

This is another image by Mo Manning. I just can't get enough of her images. I used a MS punch on the paper and threaded the ribbon through. I also used Spellbinders nestibilities to cut & emboss the main image and make a mat.

For the challenge at Mo's Digital Pencil I am going to use my little Sprout image. I really love this one. Mo's challenge this week was to use Blue. Finally, a challenge I can handle easily.  I used Copics to color the brads.

I added the sidewalk and grass after watching this video on YouTube.
Prairie Paper and Ink is a great resource there... and there are many other videos on card making and using Copics..try a search.

What's the score?

Greetings Earthlings-

I am back at home at my own computer after a week out of town. The withdrawal symptoms are starting to go away..

Here is a card I made today. I was so eager to craft while I was away - I was worried my mojo would be long gone before I got back.

This is a digi image that I repeated 3 times - flipping and resizing it on either side of the center flower. I got this image free from the Hambo Hoedown challenge for participating last week.  Here is the original, solo image.

The Hambo Hoedown challenge #29 was to use scoring. So, I scored the background card stock which was glossy - I did small squares so it looks like ceramic tiles. I am not sure if that comes across in the picture. I also scored the mat behind the sentiment.

Here are the Copics I used to color the image:

I got some fun new dies while I was away - I used one on this card. It's from Memory Box.

It is so frilly and delicate! I got several from this company that I had not seen before. I'm sure you'll be seeing them on this blog very soon!
That's it for now. I have a lot of surfing to catch up on. Maybe I will find some more challenges where I can enter this card..

Best of Show

Greetings Earthlings!

Just a quick post to do a bit of bragging..

I WON the "Best of Show' at this week's Hambo Hoedown! My prickly hedgehog must've rubbed them the right way! Check it out HERE! You'll have to scroll down a bit..

It seems fitting that the first time I win something it's from Hambo. The first digi image I ever downloaded was the cool cat freebie from their site. I love these guys!!

Now I'm off to work with my latest free digi from them for the current challenge! It's a beautiful geranium (yep, Mom, I'm thinking of you).

Birthday Card

Greetings Earthlings-

I had to wait to post this until my buddy, LJ, got it in the mail. The digi image is from Maurie Manning. If you know LJ, you know the combo of the laptop and coffee epitomizes her existence. Add in a little Dan Fogelberg and some chocolate and you've got it..

This is one of the few cards that I make that don't make their way to Operation Write Home. Check out their link on the sidebar for more information about this great group!

Later Gators!

Hambo challenge 28

Greetings Earthlings-

I created this card for the Hambo challenge 28. I used the free digi I got from them for posting in last week's challenge.

The challenge this week was to use the sketch they provided. I thought combining soft ribbon and pearls with a prickly hedgehog would be interesting..

I don't usually make cards following sketches.. I think I stayed pretty true to the original design.

I am also going to enter this in the Copic Creations challenge #55. They asked us to put in landscaping. A wall, a sidewalk, some bushes etc. I added the grassy hillock with my Copics.

Hambo Challenge #27

Greetings Earthlings-

Just a quick post today.

This card was made using a free digi I got from Hambo Stamps because I entered last week's challenge.

This week the challenge was tic tac toe. You had to use 3 things in a row from their board. You can find the challenge HERE.

I used Dies ( the image and it's matt is using Nestibilities)
Flowers (I colored with Copics)
Piercing (I don't know if this shows up so well in the picture..Top and right sides.)

That's it for today-

Easel Card

Greetings Earthlings-

Today's card was a toughie! I've never made an easel card before but Mo's challenge this week was just that. I had what I thought was a simple idea but the geometry of it almost drove me insane (er).  My 'cookie' wasn't straight. Nothing new to most of you, I know. So all the elements also needed to be slightly catty-wampus (Dad's words). The easel part wasn't so tough. Just don't start your first-ever easel with a scalloped circle!
The image is a digi stamp from Mo's Digital Pencil.  Her challenges are always fun and usually a challenge for me! You can find it here. I used a sentiment from TLC. I changed the color of some of the words with PSE8.

Here's a side-view.

Now I'm off to make a birthday card that is needed by MONDAY! Yikes!

It's August already?!

Greetings Earthlings,

Wow! The summer sure is flying past. I still have a long list of things I want to do this year and it's starting to look like I need to do some heavy editing!

Today's card uses a free digi from Hambo Stamps. http://hambostamps.com/digishop/
If you participate in their blog challenge you get a free digi sent to you the next week! What a deal!http://hambochallenges.blogspot.com/

So, without further ado:

This is for the Hambo Hoedown #26.  The challenge asked for stitching..

I used Nesties to crop the image. The texture is from a Cuttlebug folder. I also used Copic markers .. big surprise. I also used the Copic airbrush to color white buttons 'cuz I didn't have any that were gray. I also did some faux stitching around the border with a Pentel white pen.

Tomorrow Gary is coming to measure our kitchen for new cabinets and counter top! I am so psyched! This is a project that has been on the drawing board for years. It's finally starting! So, I'll be spending the rest of tonight cleaning off the counters and getting the dead bodies  expired, dusty stuff out of the cupboards.
